Whatever part of
our business you work in you will make a positive difference
to our 485,000 disabled customers' lives.
But we are not a charity. Nor do we
promote corporate social responsibility for the sake of it.
We are a growing commercial operation with an annual
turnover of approximately £1 billion - five times the size
of Manchester United Football Club! Our profits are
reinvested to grow and improve our business, which results
in improved service, greater choice and affordability for
our customers.

So what exactly do we do?
Today Motability
Operations source and deliver motoring services to disabled
people. We are the largest fleet operator in Europe, and the
largest supplier of used cars. We sell over 145,000 used
cars a year. Our car purchases account for 7% of annual
total new car sales in the UK. Since our inception, over 2
million cars have been supplied.
Founded in 1978 as Motability Finance Limited, the business
is owned by the five major clearing banks - Barclays, HBOS,
Lloyds TSB, HSBC, and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Our
activities are regulated and overseen by Motability, a
national charity. Motability Operations is the 'invisible'
car leasing operator behind the Motability Scheme.
So how does the Motability Scheme work?
Let us explain. Any disabled person
in receipt of the higher rate Disability Living Allowance is
entitled to participate in the Motability car scheme. In
exchange for their allowance they can receive a car for
three years - with insurance, tax and servicing all
included. We offer a great range of cars to choose from and
higher specification cars are available at additional cost.
The Motability scheme gives our customers the freedom and
mobility, which many may not have previously enjoyed. For
many, this enables them to consider employment, new leisure
activities and an enhanced quality of life.
