Fleet Support Team Manager
My current role is as Fleet Support Team Manager. I have been in my current position since January 2012. I am responsible for a team of nine people who I support, develop and coach on a daily basis in order to maximise their individual and team potential.
I manage the processes surrounding Motability Operations’ end of contract activity including MOT and vehicle return; actively managing internal and external relationships with key contacts, whilst maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. I am passionate about Motability Operations and the role I have and am proud of the team I work with and have helped to build.
I joined the company in July 2007 as an administrator and over a period of four years progressed to more senior positions within my team with an end goal of a management position within the company. My management team at the time was extremely supportive and showed a commitment and motivation to help me to succeed. This culture is apparent throughout the business today and with my current manager and colleagues. Being at Motability Operations has been key for me in obtaining new knowledge and skills. I look forward to the challenges presented to me and being part of a team.
The training, development and opportunities available within Motability Operations make it a company I am proud to be a part of. I feel very fortunate to work alongside such fantastic and positive people.
"At Motability Operations your opinions and views really matter" - Vicky
Customer Operations Departmental Manager
I have worked at Motability Operations for nearly eleven years. Before this I was working as a contractor in the offices in Bristol managing vehicle movements. After 18 months I decided I would like to pursue a Team Manager’s position within Motability Operations.
Eleven years later and I am in my 12th different job and each one has given me new skills and enabled me to have a fantastic understanding of the business. I have managed many different teams within logistics, auction support, stock control, customer contact centre, forecasting & planning and the customer solutions team.
My current role is Customer Operations Departmental Manager, looking after approximately 25 people. I have three managers reporting to me who jointly are responsible for looking after the Powered Wheelchair and Scooter customer base and dealers as well as customers who have wheelchair accessible vehicles, to ensure any issues they have with their vehicle are addressed to minimise inconvenience. It’s a challenging role with lots of responsibility, but I am lucky to work with a great team who make the job easier.
I absolutely love working for Motability Operations, the culture is unique in that the company really cares about you! The investment into people is something I have never experienced before. Your opinions and views really matter and you have the opportunity to shape the company into what you want it to be.
"Motability Operations can offer you a varied and challenging career" - Kate
Apollo Programme Accountant
I joined Motability Operations in 2009 as an Assistant Accountant in Reconciliations, responsible for preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations and monthly VAT returns. Immediately I felt that Motability Operations was in a completely different class of companies, offering a very friendly and fun yet professional atmosphere in the office and close collaboration between the teams.
I was in that role for a year and a half until an opportunity arose to join the Rotational Programme across the Finance Division. This led me to embark on an 18-month journey aimed to support each team at times of peak workload. I have learnt so much about the company during that time and met many fantastic people. During this period I was also based in London which was an exciting adventure in itself!
After the Rotation Programme I was seconded into the Accounts Payable Team Leader role for nearly a year. Now I am in charge of the Apollo Programme finances - a long term and complex project aimed to provide sustainable and robust software solutions for the company.
My career so far at Motability Operations had been very varied and challenging. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the opportunities ahead.
"Motability Operations has a “can do” working environment with enthusiastic people" - Leon
IT Project Manager
I joined Motability Operations (MO) in April 2013 as an IT project manager working in Business Systems. One of the things that first attracted me to MO was how, as a company, it excels in so many areas, gaining numerous awards for customer service and satisfaction, coupled with fantastic employee feedback, which, to me, amounted to a high performing company with a good set of principles.
Even through my interview stages I felt that there was a genuine appreciation of what I could offer as an individual to MO and what an exciting company it would be to work for.
What has really struck me in the few months working here are the people. MO puts a lot of value on its people and customers, and all the way through the induction process you are fully aware and appreciate who our customers are and what we, as MO, stand for.
I have worked in a few business sectors including financial, managed service and technology which has put me in good stead on the projects and initiatives here at Motability Operations. It will definitely come in useful as I embark on major strategic programmes.
I have a great bunch of colleagues in the Portfolio team. We help and support each other and bring a lot of experience and knowledge into our group.
Motability Operations is a “can do” working environment with energised and enthusiastic people. I’m not sure if it’s working so close to Borough Market or the river Thames that makes it so, maybe it’s the bright and newly refurbished offices?! What ever it is, it works!
"Motability Operations gives you a real sense of pride" - Ben
I joined the Vehicle Remarketing department of Motability Operations straight from university in May 2009. In my first four years with Motability Operations I have already had a varied number of roles and responsibilities – from handling a portfolio in the sales team to working closely with Business Systems to help deliver IT projects. Each new role has brought with it lots of new challenges and plenty of new lessons to be learnt. At each turn, however, I have had great support from my managers and colleagues, with a guiding but driving leader when I first joined, helping me find my feet, to where I am now with my current manager, being much more hands off and trusting my experience.
My current role is with the Forecasting and Development team within the Vehicle Remarketing department. I’m responsible for delivering system-based projects and supporting the department with various system developments and enhancement requests. I also support my manager in investigating new routes to market for our vehicles and I’ve recently started a project to investigate and further develop our understanding of customer behaviour.
Motability Operations is a very driven company to work for, always expecting, but also enabling, its employees to perform to their best. With the frequent updates on company wide performance you can really see how you’re contributing to the bigger picture. This is why I’ve spent four years here so far with no intention of leaving - you get a real sense of pride, not just from what you’ve achieved yourself but also the company’s performance overall.
"Motability Operations provides support and opportunities that are second to none" - Jane
Bristol Campus Receptionist
My current role is as the ‘Bristol Campus Receptionist’. This is a new role to the business and for me, which was created at the end February 2013 when the refurbishment of the building was completed.
My role includes reception duties, such as greeting guests, contractors and employees, signing them in and attending to their needs in the Business Lounge if required. l am also responsible for all of the invoices and purchase orders for the Facilities Department for Bristol, which is a new and challenging role but very interesting, keeping me on my toes! Other duties include taking care of the Recorded Delivery post, booking taxis and train tickets for employees and visitors and general administration duties.
Although l have been in my current role for just a few months, l have actually worked at Motability Operations for 10 years, mostly in Customer Services. l can honestly say, it’s a great company to work for - the training, support and opportunities that are available to every employee are second to none and we have awards to prove it!
The culture here is also embedded throughout the business and is evident everywhere you go. My team, especially my manager, is very supportive, and l know l can approach them if ever I need help or advice, making my working day something l look forward to - not many people can say that. The pay and benefits are excellent too, which is an added bonus. Motability Operations is a great company to work for, l recommend it!
"Motability Operations provides me with the support I need to help me excel" - Steve
Dealer Development Manager
I have been employed by Motability Operations since September 2000. Previously I worked within the dealer network for 13 years. I started as an Area Manager for the South West and now manage a selection of key dealer groups as a Dealer Development Manager – National Accounts. My role involves the day to day management of customer care, dealership performance and fleet growth within our support network.
I enjoy my role and working for Motability Operations as I see the way the Scheme can change our customers’ lives. Indeed having family members who themselves benefit from the Scheme really drives me every day. I would say we are unique in that we really work hard to deliver an exceptional customer experience with us and the dealer network.
Another endearing feature of our business is the ongoing drive and determination by our directors and senior managers to improve not only the customers’ experience, but also that of the people employed here. We see this with the annual employee survey, in particular the actions that always arise from it, and we also see it with the “look & feel” of the general management style.
I have a great team around me and I feel that the whole of the Dealer Relations Team and in particular, Dealer Development, now have all the resources required to deliver everything asked of it and I look forward to continuing on my journey with Motability Operations contributing what I can along the way.
We are looking to find the best people for our organisation and to reward them with a competitive employment package.
