Social and community

Our business model, finances, people and infrastructure all help to support our long-term sustainability and community engagement.

Across the community

From community projects and best practice disability access to charitable donations, our actions clearly reflect Motability Operations values:

  • Actively encouraging our employees to get involved in local community projects
  • Offering best practice disability access in and around our buildings and offering our facilities to various disability organisations and local associations
  • Making charitable donations to sponsor and support employees’ local initiatives through the ‘myCommunity’ programme
  • Supporting and funding charitable ventures
  • Operating a scholarship programme for disabled students that provides financial support and work experience in summer placements

Environmental commitment

We are a registered member of the Carbon Trust and are working to understand our carbon footprint and how we can make reductions in the future.

We’re committed to investing in the management of our internal infrastructure to help us meet our environmental responsibilities. We continue to make sure our plant and equipment remain energy-efficient, and we actively aim to recycle more and more of our waste. We have an environmental policy which is reviewed through the Health & Safety Committee and Risk Management Committee.

We also also encourage employees to minimise their environmental footprint through the use of video-conferencing facilities, promoting lift-share arrangements and membership of offering the Government’s Cycle to Work Scheme.

Our customers are looking for ways to make greener choices, so we ensure they have a range of cleaner vehicles available. We are:

  • Introducing alternative vehicles with lower CO2 emissions
  • Making low-emission cars available in all vehicle categories
  • Featuring green choices in all our promotional material
  • Providing practical advice to lower CO2 emissions in our publications

Accessible workspaces

While our offices are designed to meet the highest environmental standards, they have also been created to provide first-rate disability access. Our newest office, opened in 2020 in Edinburgh, goes further than this, providing facilities to meet the needs of a wide range of disability requirements for both employees and visitors. It offers meeting space for local community organisations and is equipped with a Changing Places toilet facility.

We are now looking to enhance facilities throughout our other offices in Bristol and London over the next few years.
