Since 1978, we have operated the Motability Scheme and delivered mobility to nearly four million customers throughout the UK. We aim to provide a wide range of affordable vehicles to meet our customers’ different disability needs. Today, over 600,000 disabled people and their families benefit from the worry-free mobility available through the Scheme.
Our customers are able to lease cars, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), scooters and powered wheelchairs. As part of the worry-free package, all of our cars come with insurance, maintenance, breakdown assistance and a mileage allowance of 60,000 miles.
With an annual turnover of over £4 billion, our business model is designed to ensure that our operation is stable and sustainable in the long term. This enables us to provide our customers with sustained affordability throughout the economic cycle. All profit is retained in the Scheme for the benefit of our customers.
Government decides who should receive mobility allowances. Customers may choose to assign their mobility allowance to obtain a vehicle, powered wheelchair or scooter.
