Motability Operations Group plc non-executive director, Joe Hennessy OBE

Joe joined the Board of MO plc in 2006, representing in particular the interests of disability organisations, customers and the wider disabled community.

Joe’s long history with the Motability Scheme began far earlier when he was appointed as one of the original members of the first executive committee of Motability charity, where he served from 1978, up to the point of joining Motability Operations’ Board.

Joe, who also chaired the Joint Committee on Mobility for Disabled People, (JCMD), was awarded the OBE for services to disabled people.

MO plc Chairman Sir Stephen O’Brien said:

"The Board were saddened to hear of Joe’s unexpected death at the weekend. Over the years, Joe made a huge contribution to both organisations involved in the Motability Scheme. His connections were second to none; he was passionate in his support for what Motability offers, and personally driven to see the Scheme develop and flourish. He will be greatly missed."
