Motability Operations joins forces with Sycada to trial DriveTag with its customers

Motability Operations and Sycada have partnered to launch a new programme to promote green and safe driving, by trialling the DriveTag product with its customers.

DriveTag is a small, battery-powered device that users stick to the windscreen of their car. It measures how a person drives, gives real-time feedback on the app, and tells customers how they can improve their driving style.

Sycada claims that the DriveTag could help drivers use 25% less fuel and CO2 in just a few weeks. It could also make users half as likely to have a road accident, increase the lifespan of vehicle brake pads and tires by up to 30%, and make drivers more relaxed in traffic, enabling them to arrive at their destination with more focus.

Motability Operations is working hard to find more sustainable solutions for its customers. The DriveTag trial is part of a series of initiatives designed to ensure the future of mobility.

Rob Rugman, Head of IT Architecture at Motability Operations, said:

“We explored the offerings of multiple companies, but Sycada’s proposition stood out. Sycada’s DriveTag concept allows us to offer a unique service to customers who are interested in contributing to the fight against climate change – and saving money while doing it! We also expect there will be other benefits for our customers, with less accidents and reduced maintenance and repair costs.

“As an organisation, we’re committed to the journey to become more sustainable and Sycada’s mission to develop tools that make transport and mobility greener, safer and more efficient really resonated with us. It’s amazing to see this trial up and running and I am looking forward to sharing the results.”

Kristian Winge, CEO of Sycada, said:

"When Motability Operations first sent out an open invitation to their customers to join this pilot, we were pleasantly surprised by the positive reception and the pilot was oversubscribed in just a few days. This made us more confident and strengthened the feeling that this partnership will be a success.

“I am looking forward to seeing the final results from the pilot. It would be amazing to expand and roll out DriveTag to Motability Operations customers, as we know there is a lot of potential to save on fuel and CO2 emissions. I hope that together we can create a really positive impact for the future.”
