We welcome applications from talented, highly motivated undergraduates in January of each year in our IT (Business Systems) and Risk teams. The 12-month work placement provides a structured training programme balanced with on-the-job learning.
Effective risk management is vital to our success and sustainability and central to our commitment to customers. It allows us to avoid pricing shocks that can be caused by economic change. Working within this important area gives students a real opportunity to get hands-on involvement with live projects and support from experienced colleagues.
We continue to invest heavily in our IT infrastructure, and there are lots of opportunities to make a difference within our IT (Business Systems) team. Within your role, you'll play a key part in delivering our digital roadmap, making our systems safer and easier to use for colleagues and customers.
You'll have a comprehensive introduction where you'll spend time with the teams in your division: this will give you a great opportunity to understand how we operate. You'll also have a dedicated buddy/mentor to support you and help you find your way in the early days.
There's a balance of on-the-job learning and real-life project work, giving you the chance to help shape the future of a £3.5 billion organisation.
Our people are key to delivering a high-quality service to our customers. We are looking for students who have:
When applications open for our next programme, we will provide more information on how to apply here. We will close the vacancy once we've filled the positions, so if you're interested in working with us, it's best to submit your application sooner rather than later.
If your application meets our requirements, the next stage will be a shortlisting interview. If that's successful, we'll invite you to an assessment centre at our London office. The assessment centre will involve a presentation and a face-to-face interview.

12 month Student placements start in July. We'll confirm the exact dates nearer the time.
We are happy to accept applications from non-EU nationals, but please include full details of your current work permit, as we are unable to sponsor candidates who require one. It is your responsibility to make sure you have a valid work permit for the duration of your employment with us.

You'll need to be an undergraduate student currently studying for a Computer Sciences or Economics degree.
